Just the other day a script popped up on my phone about butterflies in the rain. It seems they cannot survive well if they get wet. They huddle with folded wings and seek a place to hide until the storm has passed. If rain got on them, they bask in the sun until their wings dry. If the rain is long and hard many butterflies may become tattered and die. It will stay still until the water on them evaporates and frees them to fly again.
Monarch butterflies may choose to rest during storms, similar to how humans might take time to rest during difficult times in their lives.
