Donald ‘Don’ Lee Fiscus

Donald ‘Don’ Lee Fiscus, 89, passed away Nov. 23, 2022 in his home, after a brief battle with cancer. Born Aug. 30, 1933 in Parker, S.D., he was the son of Leonard “Cecil” and Anna (Beier) Fiscus. In the late thirties and amid the Great Depression, his family relocated from South Dakota to the Liscomb area in pursuit of greater agricultural opportunity. Don went on to build his life in Marshall County, graduating from Liscomb school in 1951, and farmed with his mother and brothers until establishing his own operation upon returning from the service.

Marvin Granzow, age 83, of Eldora, Iowa, died on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at the Hansen Family Hospital in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Visitation was held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, in the St. Paul Lutheran Church basement in Eldora, Iowa. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora, Iowa. Burial and military honors took place at the East Lawn Memory Gardens. Betty Linn, age 97, of Hubbard, Iowa, died on Monday, Nov. 7, 2022 at the Hubbard Care Center. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hubbard. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hubbard. Burial will follow in the Hubbard Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or to the Hubbard Care Center. The Boeke Funeral Home of Hubbard is in charge of arrangements.

Dan Drury Sr.

Dan Drury Sr., 84, of Eldora, passed away on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022 at The University of Iowa Hospital, while surrounded by family. There will be a private family service held with burial at a later date. With honor, Adams Celebration of Life is serving the family.

Dan was born on March 8, 1938 in Grundy Center to Mary and Elmer (Buck) Drury.

Dan graduated from Union in 1957. He later joined the Army and served in Korea from 1961-1963. After returning home from Korea, he was joined in marriage to Carol A. Gaede.

Shirley Whitney, age 92, formerly of Radcliffe, Iowa, died on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022 at Eden Crest at Green Meadows in Johnston, Iowa. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30 at St. John's United Methodist Church in Radcliffe. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 30 at the St. John's United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to organizations that touched Shirley’s family: The Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society, and Huntington’s Disease Society of America.
