County approves bridge contract

The Hardin County Board of Supervisors returned to bridge replacement for D Avenue over South Fork Iowa River.
During Monday’s meeting, the board considered approval of the winning bid from Reinbeck-based Peterson Contractors, Inc.’s
The company’s bid of $568,000 had come in previously as the lowest.
County Engineer Taylor Roll then had worked on reviewing the bids.
“Taylor went through it all,” said Chairman B.J. Hoffman. “Everything checked out.”
The board then gave its approval.

Sups. discuss lowered speed limit on S-75

ELDORA – During the weekly Hardin County Supervisors meeting, Hardin County Engineer Taylor Roll explained why the 35 mile per hour speed limit is currently in force on Highway S-75, the county line road to Whitten off Highway 175, east of Eldora.

“(Supervisor) B.J. (Hoffman) wanted me to remind people why we lowered the speed limit,” Roll said. “Two years ago this was a perfectly fine road and had no issues.”
