ELDORA – Elizabeth Stanish has big plans. The homeschooled 17-year-old (whose birthday is today, Feb. 1), not only competes locally and statewide on both the piano and clarinet, she plans to take her clarinet skills into the Iowa National Guard.
The South Hardin High School junior has already auditioned and been accepted to the National Guard’s 34th Army Band, located in Fairfield.
“I’m going to join now and go to basic training during the summer,” she said. “I’ll do Advanced Individual Training in 2023. The paperwork is done.”
