Escape at STS

Press reports late Wednesday indicate that two staff members at the State Training School in Eldora were assaulted on Monday and four students temporarily escaped the facility.

According to the Department of Human Services, which oversees the State Training School, four students at the institution allegedly attacked a staff member on Monday at about 9 p.m.

The staffer reportedly suffered what were termed serious injuries in the attack.

A second staffer came to the aid of the first and facility security responded.

The students did break out a window in the residence area and escaped. Staff and local law enforcement gave pursuit.

The local departments assisted the school with the search for the students. Two were apprehended and returned to the facility at about 10 p.m. The other two were caught at about 11 p.m.

None of the students were injured during the incident.
