Tigers trimmed by Trojans
ELDORA- An early season key conference contest went the way of West Marshall, edging the South Hardin boys’ basketball team, 59-58 here Tuesday during North Iowa Cedar League West action.
The visiting Trojans made the game’s final run to capture the hard-fought victory. West Marshall closed on an 11-2 spurt with the winning basket by Cam Bannister with 31-seconds showing.
Both teams then missed the front end of one-and-one free throws – first the Tigers and then the Trojans, followed by South Hardin’s last second three-point goal off-target.
West Marshall scored eight straight bookended by Alex Halter buckets to pull even at 56-all at the 2:04 mark of the fourth. South Hardin regained the lead when Cade Spieker grabbed a rebound on a missed free throw and scored. One Banneister free throw left the score 58-57.
