Zeisneiss goes LONG in shot put

BAXTER- Senior Brylie Zeisneiss of South Hardin has broken her own school record numerous times along with several meet records in the shot put over the past couple seasons, but Monday’s performance was a head-turner.

Zeisneiss powered the shot put over 10-feet farther then the competition at the Bolt Coed Track & Field Invitational, landing the throw an amazing 48-feet 10-inches.

The toss tied for the second-best throw ever in the state, joining Kiana Phillps of Kingsley-Pierson/Woodbury Central. The all-time best is 53-3 1/2 by Paulette Mitchell of Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln in 1992.

“It was just a perfect throw,” stated South Hardin coach Mike Olson. “We have been working on her form and it was just right on that throw.”

Zeisneiss just landed the nine-pound ball at 46-feet 4 last Friday in Eldora to reset her own mark by two-inches. She started the season with a school mark of 45-3 and broke that at the Buena Vista Indoor going 46-2.

“She is getting rewarded for a lot of hard work and continues to build confidence. Fifty-feet has been in the back of her head and now it is getting realistic,” added Olson.

Zeisneiss swept the weight field events, winning the discus with a measurement of 134-foot 9-inches.

Second placings in the throws were 38-8 1/2 in the shot and 103-feet in the discus.
