Tigers turn back Cadets

 

ELDORA- The South Hardin boys’ basketball team turned back a late rally and edged Iowa Falls-Alden, 59-56 here Monday during a county rival contest.

The visiting Cadets trimmed a double-digit deficit to open the fourth quarter to one at 57-56 in the closing seconds. Iowa Falls-Alden was down 44-34 through three and trailed by a dozen early in the fourth when the comeback started.

The Cadets made three treys during the rally, including two late by Luke Haverkamp with 17-seconds showing to pull within 56-53 and then Logan Aldinger with 4.2 remaining, cutting the gap to one.

Jacob Vander Wilt had the answer for the Tigers, scoring the host’s final five points, including one free throw with 16-ticks and two free throws with 3.4 showing for the final three-point difference.
