Storm matmen competitive in setbacks

HUDSON- Two highly-competitive losses were suffered by the South Hardin-BCLUW wrestling team, losing 37-33 to Sumner-Fredericksburg and 42-31 to Hudson on opening night here Thursday.

Despite giving up 18 points on consecutive forfeits at 170, 182 and 195-pounds, the Storm split the 14 weights with Sumner-Fred and scored six wins against Hudson.

“We were competitive in the matches, but we still definitely have things to work on. And 18 points on forfeits doesn’t help,” said SH-BCLUW co-head coach Mike Olson.

SH-BCLUW fell just short against Sumner-Fred, battling back from a 24-6 deficit to lead 33-30. The Cougars then scored seven points over the final two bouts.
