Hardy readers

HARDIN COUNTY – The Hardy Reading Council recently held its Annual Awards Banquet at St. Marks Catholic Church in Eldora to recognize the winners of the Creative Writing and Poetry contest winners.  Every year the Council sponsors the contests for students in grades K-12 in conjunction with the Iowa Reading Association. The first place winners at all grade levels are invited to attend the Banquet, to read their winning entry, and to receive a certificate.

The winners in the poetry contest that were able to attend were:  first grader Brynley Weig from ENP who wrote “Soccer”; fourth grade co-authors Mary Engelson and Nora Warburton from Hubbard-Radcliffe who wrote “Why”;  fifth grader Alex Schult from Hubbard-Radcliffe who wrote “Fall Fulsomeness”; and sixth grader Treston Sparks from Gladbrook-Reinbeck who wrote “Smelly Surprise”.
