Girl Scouts and camping have a Hardin County history

HARDIN COUNTY – By 1953, when Eldora was 100 years old, girl scouting was still young in town – it had ten troops and 116 kids involved here in the community. 

But well before this, the natural wonders of Hardin County were encouraging central Iowa scouting to come to this area.

Pine Lake State Park was always a camp-spot too good to overlook, going back way before girl scouting even got started here in Eldora. At that time, scouts from Marshalltown were trekking up.
