Cougars pile up 91 points in win

ACKLEY- The tournament trail tipped-off with an entertaining 91-50 victory for the AGWSR girls’ basketball team here Tuesday, outscoring Meskwaki during a Class 1A regional quarterfinal contest.

The eighth-ranked Cougars shook off the rust from a two-week layoff in the early going and rolled to the post-season win with four quarters of 20 or more points.

Season-long scoring leader Mandy Willems fueled AGWSR’s offensive outburst. The senior poured in a game-high 28 points and led the barrage of 14 three-point goals, splashing home a single game school record eight treys.
