Comets net third win over G-R

 

CONRAD- A third win was booked by the BCLUW girls’ basketball team over Gladbrook-Reinbeck here Thursday.

After two earlier conference wins, the Comets added a post-season victory over the Rebels, 49-33 during a Class 1A regional first-round contest.

Sophomores Chloe Walters and Allison Engle combined for 29 points and senior Payton Pekarek was a third Comet in double figures. Walters scored a game-high 15 points, Engle had 14 and Pekarek 11. Engle sank three of the winner’s six three-balls and Pekarek had two. Walters pulled down nine rebounds along with Engle, who also collected seven steals and four assists. Betula Messerly added seven points and rebounds each.
