Comets fare well at South Hamilton Invite

 

JEWELL- A power-packed field awaited the BCLUW boys’ cross country team at the South Hamilton Jim Klein Invitational here Thursday and the Comets fared well.

BCLUW, 10th ranked in Class 1A, finished fifth in a field of 16 that featured six ranked teams. Individually, senior standout Caleb Silver also took fifth as the top 10 placewinners are all listed in the state rankings.

The Comets collected 136 points while top-ranked in Class 3A Gilbert was the team champion at 35 points and No. 1 in 1A Madrid second at 63. Host South Hamilton, No. 7 in 1A, took third with 87 points followed by No. 10 in 2A Roland-Story fourth at 115. Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center, No. 14 in 1A, scored 164 for sixth.

Silver broke the 17-minute mark, covering the course in 16:51 for his seventh top five placing in eight meets. Neifer Ralston and Ruben Montoya posted top 25 placings in the 113-runner field with Ralston 24th at 17:53 and Montoya 25th in 17:54. Rounding out the five scores were Henry Kaisand 44th in 18:42 and Treye Teske 46th at 18:47.
