Blake Jones takes council seat

In the end, voters chose Blake Jones by a comfortable margin to fill a seat on the Eldora city council.

The decision writes the last word in a town council election cycle which effectively began early last fall.

Jones will be sworn within a matter of days.

He works for the Hardin County Secondary Roads department.

The election story, which includes the vote last November, made for a big turnover on the council. Subsequent events included the resignation of one member to take the position of city manager, the abortive appointment of an unsuccessful runner-up candidate to fill that open post, and finally a petition drive which brought about Tuesday’s vote and more change.

If letters to the editor and other public posts were any indication, the special election didn’t always stay friendly competition.
