AGWSR baseball splits NICL battles

GILMAN- A stellar showing on the mound by Luke Starr propelled the AGWSR baseball team over East Marshall, 7-0 here Friday during North Iowa Cedar League West play.

Starr pitched a two-hitter, struck out 10 and walked two in a dominating performance. The sophomore fired just 77 pitches over the seven innings with 50 strikes. He fanned five over the final two innings, including the side in the seventh.

The Cougars tallied two runs in the third inning and then pulled away with five runs over the final three innings with a pair in the fifth and seventh around one in the sixth. AGWSR was a 2-1 winner over the Mustangs in the two team’s first meeting.

ACKLEY- The Tyler Tscherter led Gladbrook-Reinbeck trimmed the AGWSR baseball team, 4-3 here Thursday during North Iowa Cedar League West play.

Tscherter earned the pitching win in relief and scored three of the Rebels’ four runs.
