Welcome to the family

Steve's boots were old and weathered. The leather was genuine and had seen better days. He leaned heavily on his cane. He was in his 50's but looked much older. He had just lost his wife 4 weeks ago. He took care of her for fifteen years after her stroke...his daughter was with him...wife and mother suddenly gone. Diane's husband had emphysema and was on a respirator. They were married 53 years, he died 3 weeks ago. She can't stop hearing the respirator pushing air into his lungs. She used to be young but now her daily mantra is the sound of a machine.
