ELDORA – At the corner of 12th Avenue and 12th Street is a bell encased in a tall brick housing. However, behind this bell’s campanile is the noisy chaos of large pieces of machinery and construction workers, tearing down the old school in chunks.
The bell – known as the victory bell – has had a long history at that location.
In 1978, Eldora’s 125th Jubilee Special Edition was printed by the former Hardin County Index, and inside was an excerpt from F.K. Schmidt, the Eldora School Superintendent from 1934-1953.
