South Hardin freshman Ava Handeland was the Game 1 hero with a two-run home run in the Tigers’ 2-1 win, the opener of an NICL West doubleheader with East Marshall in Le Grand on Thursday.
The Mustangs, ranked 12th in Class 2A, rallied to win the nightcap 7-6.
East Marshall’s loss was the Mustangs’ first in NICL West play. South Hardin is now 4-4 in the West and 11-6 overall.
In Game 1, the Mustangs took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on a run-scoring error.
