DES MOINES - Former Eldora resident Darlene McCrea will be celebrating her 100th birthday on Sept. 6 and cards can be sent to 3710 SW Second St., Des Moines, Iowa 50315.
Darlene was born in Spencer, Iowa, and lived in Milford and Algona before moving to Eldora in 1955.
In 1942, Darlene married Paul McCrea when she was 21 years old. They had met in Milford, Iowa, and were married at Fort Sill, Okla., when Paul was in basic training during WWII. He passed away in 2013 after they had been married for 71 years.
