ELDORA – It was 100 years ago, and another pandemic was up and rolling across the nation. But, perhaps because the county had spent the first half of the year concerned with World War I, you might not have known there was a flu epidemic, at all. At least based on accounts in the Eldora Newspapers of the time.
The local papers of that time routinely offered coverage of national and even world news, but they made scant reference to flu deaths here or anywhere else for that matter, until the war ended and the front pages suddenly began repeating a headline writer’s dream:
