ELDORA – The Eldora City Council discussed the city’s contract with Knight Sanitation at their Dec. 8 meeting, which had previously been automatically renewed every year. However, this year the adoption of a new purchasing policy changed that. The policy states any purchase over $1,000 must be opened for bids, and so the local garbage collection service cast their bid, along with three other companies, to vie for the coveted position. The lowest bid came in at $4,068 from Iowa Falls based McDowell & Sons, beating Knight Sanitation’s bid by $1,740.
