ELDORA – Roughly 177 ash trees dot city parks and right-of-ways in Eldora, and the city is in the process of removing them due to the Emerald ash borer, said Eldora Public Works Director Kelly Haskin. This number does not include trees on private property.
“The DNR did an urban forest management plan several years ago, and Joe Herring (Forester with the Iowa DNR) came up with a survey and they identified the ash trees,” Haskin said. “We had taken down a few last year and are taking down five now.” The trees are in the 1100 block of Seventh Street.
