Harry C. Carson Jr.

Harry C. Carson, Jr. 94, of Ackley, died on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, under St. Croix Hospice at Maple Manor Village in Aplington.

Harry was born on August 10, 1930, in St. Ansgar, to Harry C. and Leona M. (Cowell) Carson, Sr. He graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1948. Harry married Colleen J. MacArthur on June 10, 1949, at First Brethren Church in Waterloo; she preceded him in death on July 10, 2019. Harry proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and fought in the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir. He worked at John Deere for 36 years, retiring in 1984. Harry enjoyed model railroading and collecting John Deere 2 Cylinder tractors. While he was proud of working for 36 years, Harry was happy to have been retired for 41 years, enjoying his acreage and being outdoors. Harry was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Ackley.

He is also preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Willard Glaspie, brothers, James D., and Jack L. Carson.

Harry is survived by his daughter, Sandy (Harley) Wildes of Cedar Falls; sons, Rick (Beth) Carson of Iowa Falls, Tim (Betty) Carson and Todd Carson both of Ackley; 10 grandchildren, Keith, Christy, Jennifer, Michael, Bethany, Charity, Daniel, Sarah Faith, Emily, and Josh; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Carson of Hot Springs, AR; and sister, Linda Ahlhelm of Waterloo

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church, 1300 4th Ave, Ackley. Visitation will take place one hour prior. Burial at Union Cemetery in Union with military honors provided by the United States Marine Corps and Ackley American Legion Post #252.
