June Thompson

June Thompson, 92, formerly of Iowa Falls, passed away Friday, Nov. 8, 2024 at the Dolan Memory Care Homes in St. Louis, Missouri. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at the First Baptist Church in Eldora with burial in Union Cemetery in Iowa Falls. Visitation will be an hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church in Eldora, Iowa. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls. 

June was born in Agency to John and Drucie McCarroll June 25, 1932. She graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1950. She loved attending Floris Baptist Church and Iowa Regular Baptist Camp. She graduated from Omaha Baptist Bible Institute (OBBI) in Omaha, Nebraska in 1954. June went on to receive her nursing degree (RN) from Evangelical School of Nursing in Marshalltown in 1958 and worked as an RN for 36 years.

While working in Fort Dodge, she met Arnet Thompson whom she married Dec. 21, 1968. June worked at the former Ellsworth Hospital in Iowa Falls for 26 years. Arnet and June enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing, and gardening for 21 years together before his passing in 1989. They were blessed with one daughter, Jill.

Those left to remember June: daughter, Jill (Eric) of Wildwood, Missouri; grandsons Isaac Martin and Landon Martin of Wildwood, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death are her parents John and Drucie McCarroll; brothers Rex, Raymond, Max; sister Maxine; 7 half-brothers and sisters (Boyden, Reuben, Roscoe, Maude, Effie, Lula, Marie); and husband Arnet Thompson.
