No bones about it

Babies are born without kneecaps in a sense; the knee is made up of cartilage. Imagine giving birth to a baby with bony knees...ouch!

By the ages of 2-6 the knee will eventually become bone... meanwhile, the little human must navigate crawling to walking on soft mushy knees. I remember my babies always had red scuff marks on them while crawling on the carpet.
