Phillip Brinkmeyer

Philip Brinkmeyer, 89, of Hubbard, passed away March 1, 2024 at the Hubbard Care Center. The youngest of 11 children, Philip Arthur Brinkmeyer was born Jan. 17, 1935 to Paul and  Amelia (Mannetter) Brinkmeyer. He was born on the family farm, five miles southwest of Hubbard.

He was a lifetime member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Hubbard, formerly the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church.

Philip received his elementary education just a skip and a hop away from their family farm in a new one room country schoolhouse. Phil graduated from Radcliffe High School with the Class of 1953. It was in high school that he fell in love with Arlene Oberhokamp, the love of his life.

Phil and Arlene were married Nov. 24, 1956, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Radcliffe. After they were married, Phil and Arlene moved to the family farm, which they farmed for nine years.

It was in 1966 that Phil made a career change and started the Hubbard Realty & Insurance and Brinkmeyer Family Auction Companies.

Phil served on various boards and organizations, delighted in taking his children and grandchildren fishing and teaching them to play cards, especially cribbage. He had a love for music, having sung in the Zion UCC Chancel Choir for many years. Phil also enjoyed telling stories and jokes and had a great passion for his ancestry.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Arlene Brinkmeyer; children Jill (Craig) Miller, Curtis (Karyn) Brinkmeyer and RJ (Bridgette) Brinkmeyer all of Hubbard; grandchildren Emily Humke (Aaron Sprung), Monica (Kyle) Warburton, Mindy (Graig) Stensland, Reece (Kelli) Miller,

Branigan (Travis) Jeske, Delaney and Claire Brinkmeyer; great grandchildren Tyler (Kylee) Humke, Chase (Katlynn) Humke, Carly and Charlotte Sprung, Lila, Nora and Eva Warburton, Jackson and Preston Stensland, Cameron, Mia and Marnie Miller and Jensen and Walter Jeske; great-great grandchild Riverlynn Humke; 475 nieces and nephews; along with a host of cousins, friends and business associates.

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Amelia (Mannetter) Brinkmeyer, his brothers Freeman, Donald, Kermit and Paul Brinkmeyer and sisters Freida Larson, Charlotte Wilson, Kathleen Murray, Marian Herrington, Jean Tesdahl and Joan Juehring.

Let us give thanks and glory to God for the life and memory of Philip Arthur Brinkmeyer.
