Eleanor Frerichs-Folkerts

Eleanor (Rose) Frerichs-Folkerts of Lake City, Minnesota, went home to be with the Lord after a short illness, July 19, 2023.

Eleanor was born May 23, 1937 in Eldora. She was the daughter of William and Marie Rose. She graduated from high school at Steamboat Rock, in 1955. She was married to John Frerichs November 16, 1956 at Steamboat Rock Baptist Church.

Eleanor was an active member of First Baptist Church of Steamboat Rock. She loved her family and enjoyed homemaking, her church; she also was on the city council for 10 years. She was a Food Manager for Steamboat Rock School and Wellsburg School.

After the death of her husband John in 1990, she was united in marriage to Harlan Dean Folkerts July 22, 1992. Dean and Eleanor spent many happy times traveling together. She retired from Steamboat Rock School in 1996. Dean and Eleanor moved to Barron, WI in 1997. Dean passed away in 2007. Eleanor moved to Marshalltown and enjoyed living at Embers Retirement Community where she was active and a resident council member until 2018. She moved to Lake City, Minnesota to be closer to her daughter. She lived at Pepin Plaza until June of 2023 when she moved to High Street House Assisted Living. She attended Anchor Point Church in Wabasha, Minnesota.

Eleanor is survived by her daughter Lori (Steve) Murray, of Lake City, Minnesota; her son Kevin (Renee) Frerichs, of Ackworth; stepson, David (Randi) Folkerts, of Steamboat Rock; stepdaughter, Nancy (Allan) Ris, of Front Royal, Virgina; her brother-in-law, John Heldt, of Barron, Wisconsin; sister-in-law, LaRita Rose, of Eldora; four grandchildren: Jennifer Murray, Shawna Hutchison, Bethany (Wes) Zeitz and John (Ashley) Frerichs; two step-grandchildren: Zoe and Jackie Ris; two great grandchildren: Carter and Hudson Frerichs.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands: John Frerichs and Dean Folkerts; her son Mark Frerichs, her brother Richard Rose, her sister Evelyn Heldt, her sisters-in-law: Alice and Elizabeth and her brothers-in-law: Henry and Henry Jr.

She was a woman of God and a good example to her family and all who knew her.

Funeral Services will take place Saturday, July 29, at 1 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson – Peterson Chapel in Lake City. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the funeral home. Private interment will take place at the Steamboat Rock Cemetery in Steamboat Rock.
