For the last two years Republican Senator Annette Sweeney has been hard at work getting Senate Joint Resolution 10 passed, naming the American Cream Draft Horse the official state horse of the State of Iowa.
The American Cream Draft Horse is the only draft horse breed native to the United States. The breed traces its bloodline back to “Old Granny,” a mare of draft breeding with a cream-colored coat, pink skin and amber eyes. These three characteristics made the offspring of this horse very sought after for their beauty.
