Joanne Lucille Smith

Joanne Lucille Smith, 81, of Eldora, Iowa, passed away on Dec. 16, 2022 at Parkridge Specialty Care in Pleasant Hill, Iowa.

Joanne was born Aug. 26, 1941 to Erwin and Blanche (McGill) Saint. She was raised in Eldora with her sister and brother. She attended Eldora Community School and graduated in 1959.

Joanne was united in marriage to Richard Dean Smith on Feb. 24, 1964 in Galina, Ill. Although they later divorced, they had two children together Jason and Stacey.

Joanne worked for several different banks in Eldora and worked for Hy-Vee for over 30 years as a bookkeeper and then a cashier before retiring in 2006.

Joanne’s hobbies include cross-stitching, crocheting, baking, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. Joanne was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eldora.

Joanne will forever be missed by her children Jason (Kellie) Smith of Eldora, Stacey Cayler of St. Petersburg Fla., grandchildren Justyn and Olyvia Smith of Eldora, Hannah Frerichs of Des Moines and Lucas Cayler of Clarion.

Joanne was met in heaven by her parents Erwin and Blanche Saint, sister Corrine Christian, brother Ron Saint and many aunts and uncles.

There will be a Celebration of Life to remember Joanne at the UCC Church in Eldora from 1 to 4 p.m. on Jan. 22, 2023.
