David Ronald Broer

David Ronald Broer, 82, of Frederick S.D. passed away Aug. 14, 2022, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D., after a brief battle with an aggressive form of cancer. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, David managed his illness with strength and grace, and wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible. On his final day, he was surrounded by his family, who he adored more than anything else in this world.

David Ronald Broer, son of Jesse Louis and Helen A. (Pemberton) Broer was born Dec. 18, 1939, at Eldora, Iowa. He attended school in New Providence, Iowa where he excelled in high school athletics-basketball and baseball, Glee Club, and Student Council. After graduating from NPHS, he then attended California Polytechnic State University, studying drafting and engineering.

He was united in marriage to Joan Bennett in 1965. He then started his career as a heavy equipment operator. He worked on the construction of the Alaskan Pipeline throughout its entirety. His career took him all across the United States. He never retired, just slowed down.

He was adventurous and his travels would take him to places such as Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico. He turned most of his hobbies into side, skilled professions. He was a talented woodworker, photographer, and a stained glass artist. David was deeply rooted and passionate in regards to his faith, family, and his country.

Grateful for having shared David’s life are his daughters, Holli Jo (Carl) Kronberg of Forbes, N.D., and Amanda (Tom) Hubbs of Frederick, S.D.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and his beloved dog, Hoop.

David was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Richard, and Robert.
