ELDORA - DNR wildlife technician Dave Hoffman visited Eldora last week to do some fox spotting. Gray fox, specifically.
He says the number of gray foxes has declined by 90 percent across the whole upper Midwest, and the DNR needs to locate some survivors to understand the problem. Eldora apparently has a few.
The project is high priority, enough that Hoffman came all the way from the DNR’s regional office in Clear Lake. He came to the Hardin County Fairgrounds, dispatched to investigate the possible sighting of just one animal near the racetrack.
