Myreta Collins

Myreta Collins, 89, lifelong resident of Union, Iowa passed away Monday, Dec. 20, 2021 at Eldora Specialty Care.

Services for Myreta will take place at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 27 at Calvary Baptist Church in Union followed by burial at Bangor Friends Cemetery. Friends and family are also invited to attend a visitation one hour prior beginning at 12 p.m. Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Myreta and her family. Myreta was born at the family farmhouse in Union on April 20, 1932 to parents Clyde and Nellie Mae (Nelson) Marshall. She graduated from Union High School with the class of 1951 and went on to marry her high school sweetheart, Gene Collins, shortly after on June 3, 1951. A dedicated and hardworking farm wife and mother, Myreta enjoyed keeping the home and taking care of her family. She loved her life on the farm and especially enjoyed cats. Faith was important to Myreta and she was a Charter Member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Union.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Kim Collins of Union; daughter, Teri Knuth of Waukee; grandchildren: Chris (Debbie) Baum, Heather (Chris) Plucar, Ryan (Amina) Baum, K.C. (Kelly) Collins, Chad (Priscilla) Collins, Caitlyn Knuth and Kyra Knuth (Justin Hallberg); and her great-grandchildren: Calvin, Zach, Isabel, Austin and Mason Baum, Jack, Olivia and Parker Plucar, Erin, Evan, Emmett and Miriam Collins, Malachi Knuth and Cameron Hallberg.

In death, Myreta is reunited with her beloved husband of nearly 62 years, Gene; her daughter, Sandi Baum; a son in infancy; her parents, Clyde and Nellie Mae; daughter-in-law, Patricia Collins; and her siblings: Bernadine Hart, Lowell Marshall and a brother in infancy.
