Big bad wolf, or was it?

I was on my way to work at daybreak, just getting ready to cross a low bridge over the Iowa River east of Iowa Falls. Right then an animal came charging out from under the bridge and ran right up onto the road next to my car. It looked like a straight-up wolf… bushy gray tail, humped back, elongated, pointy nose and long, gangly legs.
