John “Jim” Larson
John “Jim” Larson, 89, of Dayton, Iowa, passed away on Friday morning, May 21, 2021.
A celebration of John’s life will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at the United Methodist Church in Dayton. Pastor Kay Christie will officiate. John Carl Larson was born on Sept. 7, 1931, in Indianola, Iowa, the son of John Edward and Mable Mae (Kinney) Larson. He graduated with the Dayton High School class of 1949.
On June 2, 1955, John was united in marriage to Ilene Semprini at the United Methodist Church in Lehigh, Iowa. They were blessed with four children: Kathy, Mike, Cindy and Jim.
John farmed in the Dayton area and later worked in agricultural sales with major seed companies and lastly with Butler Bin and Bldgs. He enjoyed building and remodeling houses with his wife for their family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Ryan, great-granddaughter, Alexis, his brother, Wayne Larson, and very special aunt and uncle Zola and Leo Luhmann.
Among the survivors are his wife of 65 years, Ilene Larson of Dayton, Iowa; children, Kathy (Steve) Balvanz of Eldora, Iowa, Mike (Aimee) Larson of Fort Worth, Texas, Cindy (Randy) Danielson of Dayton, Iowa, and Jim (Antoinette) Larson, of Seneca Falls N.Y.; grandchildren, Kristy, Steve Jr., Jamie, Shawn, Scott, Jimmy, Lindsay and Joey; great-grandchildren, Drue, Lane, Luke, Noah, Dylan, Annie, Dani, John, Wesley, Parker, Nixon, Cate and James; one brother, Jay (Jane) Larson of Herndon, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
