ELDORA – After two decades of detaining immigrants who are facing deportation, the Hardin County Jail is currently in talks with ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) to change their current contract, said Hardin County Jail Administrator Nick Whitmore.
“We are in talks with ICE about reducing our contract from long-term to a 72-hour facility,” Whitmore said, adding that a “72-hour facility” could mean detaining a person up to 10 days, rather than long-term – which sometimes is over a year.
