ELDORA – Jake Ascher, 20, of Grundy Center has been fishing his whole life, and on a brisk and sunny Monday morning, he gathered with a few friends, drilled a hole in the ice on Lower Pine Lake, and hoped to catch a few Crappie and Blue Gill.
“The ice is 4-6 inches thick,” Ascher said, adding. “The DNR says 4 inches is good. I’ve been on 2 inches, but I wouldn’t recommend it.”
