ELDORA – Don Knoell, 67, has spent a good portion of his life working in the Hardin County Courthouse, and on Thursday, Dec. 31, he officially hangs up his hat as Hardin County Assessor.
“Betty Donner was the Hardin County Assessor in 1980,” Knoell said of when he first came to work in the office. Donner was hired in the Assessor’s Office in 1962, and was appointed Assessor in 1980. “She retired in December 1997, and I took over on Jan. 1, 1998.”
Knoell had served as Deputy Assessor in the office since July 1, 1981, prior to becoming the Assessor after Donner’s retirement.
