ACKLEY – Another COVID death occurred in Hardin County when former Ackley mayor and owner of Ackley Publishing, Jim Daggs, 64, passed away at Mary Greeley in Ames. Daggs, an Eldora High School graduate, was hospitalized with COVID symptoms on Sept. 20, and lost his battle with the virus on Oct. 2.
“He had (COVID) symptoms on Sept. 20 and he was hospitalized on Sept. 30,” said his wife of 18 years, Pat Daggs. “Jim was struggling with advanced dementia and he didn’t have the ability to fight back from the dementia. It was hard to get symptoms from him.”
