Our farmhouse in the country was built in the 1850s, which means the basement has a dirt floor and stacked limestone walls. It’s quaint, a little spooky, and to say it’s secure from mice would be a lie. We get our fair share and they always… always… somehow get into the house through the basement. We’ve had the foundation sealed, and I have shoved steel wool in every crack and crevasse I can find… but they still manage to squeeze their way in.
