Shelley Jo Preston, 65

Shelley Jo Preston, 65, of Eldora, Iowa, passed away Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa, after her long battle with breast cancer. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 10, 2020, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora. She was laid to rest at the Eldora Cemetery. Woodley Funeral Home, LLC of Iowa Falls cared for Shelley and her family.

Shelley Jo (Lamasters) Preston was born on May 22, 1955 in Eldora, Iowa, to Joe and Ruth (Coyle) Lamasters. Shelley grew up in Eldora and attended Eldora High School. In November of 1971, she was married to Roger Stephens in Eldora. They later divorced. On October 30, 1981, she was united in marriage to Freddie Preston in Eldora. They made their home in the Eldora area and raised their growing family.

Shelley worked several jobs in the retail and medical fields before finding her passion as a florist. She was extremely proud to purchase and run her own flower shop in Eldora. She created many beautiful and unique arrangements, and she loved to bring joy to people through her flowers.

Shelley was most proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family always came first. She was always up for a swim in the pool, an ice cream cone or a Pepsi. She enjoyed cooking for her family, and they enjoyed her many specialties, including pot roast, potato salad, wilted lettuce, fried chicken, Thanksgiving dressing, omelets, and biscuits and gravy. Shelley loved to coordinate her outfits from her jewelry to her shoes. She always had her hair and nails done and nothing was out of place, even hair number 57. She had a love for makeup, especially Mary Kay. We will miss her speedy driving, her two-ton purse, her love of perfume, her wet, lipstick kisses, and most importantly, her love for her family.

Shelley will be dearly missed by her husband, Freddie of Eldora; her children, Carrie Lamasters of Beloit, Wis., Jason (Kati) Stephens of Eldora, Tammie (Eric) Craighton of Hampton, Freddie (Bobbi) Preston, Jr. of Eldora and Brandie (Levi) Overton of Ankeny; grandchildren: Kalee Rinnels, Lexlee Alderman, Briannah Maravillia, Brayden Maravillia, Joey and Jacob Stephens, Jordan Chamberlin, Hannah Chamberlin, Chloe Craighton, Samantha, Clint and Jerri Anne Preston, Finnley, Henri and Thaddeus Overton; great grandchildren, Vernon and Nylah Wilburn and another on the way. Other survivors include sister-in-law, Valarie Lamasters; brothers-in-law, Floyd Rinnels and Duane Kistler and sister-in-law, Jeannie (Dwight) Schuneman.

Shelley was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Ruth Lamasters; brothers, Terry and Gary Lamasters; sister, Shelia Rinnels; sister-in-law, Joanie Kistler; father and mother-in-law, Warren and Mildred Preston and grandson, Colton Preston.
