ELDORA – With the state and region being very dry and the crops starting to show stress, State Climatologist Dr. Justin Glisan said it was a good thing we started this growing season with plenty of subsoil moisture.
“If you look at the drought region in west central Iowa, we’ve had precipitation deficits for the past four to six months,” he said, but added that last fall was very wet making 2019 the 12th wettest year on record. And in the 148 years of record keeping, 2018 tallied to be the second wettest ever.
