ELDORA – At 18 and fresh out of South Hardin High School, Jakota Maakestad of Hubbard was thrilled when she won the Hardin County Fair Queen crown in 2019. She traveled to Des Moines to participate in the Iowa State Fair competition and won the Personality Plus award as well.
And now, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Maakestad will be continuing on as the 2020 Hardin County Fair Queen.
“Obviously it’s different,” Maakestad, now 19, said of her new rein. “But my coordinator Natalie Mosch and I are working together to try to plan events for when things get back to normal.”
