Scott Inks

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Scott Alan Inks, age 61, who unexpectedly departed from this world Aug. 7, 2024, at his home in Eldora. Born April 30, 1963, in Iowa Falls, to Francis "Jim" and Velma (Murra) Inks, Scott leaves behind a legacy of strength and service, compassion for youth and community, and steadfast love for his family.

Scott's lifelong dedication to working with juveniles defined his career. He spent six years at Rabiner Boys Ranch in Fort Dodge before dedicating 28 years of service to the Central Iowa Juvenile Detention Center in Eldora as a Client Service Coordinator earning his retirement in July of 2023. Scott's commitment to positively impact at-risk youth will be remembered by all who knew him.

His parents, Iowa education and the discipline of football shaped Scott's life. He excelled as a First Team All-State football player on the Lynx's Defensive Line with Webster City High School, graduating in 1982. Football secured his full ride scholarships with the Tritons at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge and the Fighting Bees at St. Ambrose College in Davenport. This legacy fueled his nickname of "Power" and earned his BA in Sociology in 1987.

Beyond his professional and academic achievements, Scott cherished the outdoors and the solitude of nature. His family fished and camped. He duck hunted at the family cabin at Big Wall Lake or engaged in favored physical activities like weightlifting, walking, biking, and yoga. His kids' activities and cribbage or card matches sparked joy. Above all, Scott fiercely loved his wife, of 25 years, their kids, and his sheltie, Ryker.

Scott's memory will forever be treasured by his beloved family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Rachel Inks; daughter, Emma Lee Inks; son, Isaac Alan Inks; brothers Jeff (Marla) Inks and Jimmy (Trish) Inks; mother-in-law Carmell Paul; brother-in-law David (Jessica) Paul; mother-in-law Vickie Paul; and sister-in-law Racheal Jennings along with a host of other cherished relatives and network of close friends.

He was preceded in death by his four-year-old sister, Sharon Inks; parents, Velma and Jim; father-in-law Don Paul; and brother-in-law Cory Jennings.

In honoring Scott's life and legacy, visitation services will take place at the Christian Fellowship Church of Eldora Aug. 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. A memorial service will take place at the same location on the following day, Aug. 21, at 11 a.m.

Scott Alan Inks will be remembered for his life journey toward kindness and strength, unwavering dedication to faith and family, and the work of his servant's heart. May his legacy inspire us to seek light and build lasting positive relationships.
