Ruth Evelyn Donner

Ruth Evelyn Donner, 96, died peacefully Saturday, June 4, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2022, at St. Mary Church in Eldora, Iowa. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Susan G. Komen Foundation at www.komen.org

Ruth was born Dec. 10, 1925, in Eldora, the daughter of Joseph and Susie (Reed) Dole. Ruth married D. Glen Donner. He died in 2017.

Ruth and Glen lived most of their lives in Eldora, where Ruth worked in the Hardin County Auditor’s office. They were members of St. Mary Church, where Ruth was actively involved. In 2010 Ruth and Glen moved to Hills, Iowa, to be closer to family.

Ruth is survived by three children, Susan Rhoads (Tom Dobrynski) of Carlsbad, Calif., John (Deanna) Donner of Muscatine and Vicki Harkins of West Branch; grandchildren, Matt (Devin), Ryan (Aubrey), Courtney (Ben), Kathryn “Kat” (Billy); great-grandchildren, Emily, Kalyn, Autumn, Loxley, Cora and Xavier; siblings, Harold and Patricia.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Becky; brothers, Fred, Larry, Glen, Bill and Richard; and sisters, Helen and Marilyn.
