Roger Granner

Roger Glen Granner, 69, of Hubbard, Iowa, passed away on Dec. 10, 2021, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa surrounded by his family after a short battle with Leukemia.

Roger was born on March 29, 1952, to Stanley and Reva (Carr) Granner, in Eldora, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at Salem United Methodist Church in Hubbard, where he was a lifetime member. Roger grew up on the family farm, raising Angus Cattle. He graduated from Hubbard High School in 1970, where he was active in baseball, football, golf and 4-H. Roger attended NIACC and graduated with his AA in Agriculture Business in 1972. Following graduation, he returned home to help his father farm. Roger was united in marriage on Jan. 19, 1974, to Sheila Lange at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora, Iowa. To this union two daughters were born.

Roger was employed by numerous businesses over the years; Larson’s Inc., Hubbard Implement, Iowa Falls Implement & Marine, Titan Machinery and Alden Diesel & Tractor Repair. After retirement, he enjoyed helping Dave and Jason Martin on the farm. While all of these jobs gave him great friendships, his love was farming and caring for his horses and cattle. Roger was active in his community, having served on various organizations including, Jaycees, Hubbard Chamber of Commerce, Hubbard Golf & Recreation Board and Men’s Golf League. He was a member of the Rebel Spirit Booster Club and served as president. Roger volunteered on the Hardin County 4-H & Youth Committee. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, antique tractor pulls and was a member of the Heartland Buckskin Horse Association. All of these things were close to his heart, but his family was his greatest joy.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 47 years, Sheila of Hubbard; daughters Lindsay (Jon) Lancaster of Alden, Iowa, and Megan (Kevin) Warburton of Hubbard, Iowa; four grandchildren Brady and Jake Lancaster, and Avrie and Kilee Warburton; sister Linda (Don) Ward of Ames, Iowa; sister-in-law Barb (Dave) Raska of Radcliffe, Iowa; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Clarence and Evelyn Lange.

Visitation will be held 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021, at Salem United Methodist Church in Hubbard. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, at Salem United Methodist Church in Hubbard. Burial will be in the Hubbard Cemetery in Hubbard. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Hardin County Fair Board.
