Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Struck

Kathleen “Kathy” Struck, 76, of Eldora,, passed away peacefully at her home in Eldora Oct. 11, 2024. A memorial visitation was set from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at Abels Funeral and Cremation Service, Creps Chapel in Eldora. Inurnment will be private. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Kathy was born May 20, 1948, in Eldora, to her parents Glen Ball, Sr. and Betty (LaMasters) Ball. She was raised in rural Eldora and graduated from Eldora High School. Kathy then went on to earn her Student Degree in Teaching from the University of Northern Iowa.

Kathy was united in marriage to Roger Struck June 28, 1970. They welcomed their son Matthew and daughter Martha into their family. Along with being a wonderful wife and mother, Kathy worked as a Special Ed Teacher at Eldora Elementary School, Area 6 Special Ed and lastly Good Shepherd Preschool where she was affectionately known as “Ms. Kathy.”

Kathy enjoyed playing the piano, sewing, crocheting, knitting, gardening, and was an avid reader. She loved her family and friends and her true joy in life was engaging in deep academic and philosophical discussions with people.

Kathy is survived by her husband Roger, son Matthew (Crystal) Struck; daughter Martha (Joseph) Steding; grandchildren Connor Struck, Caden Steding, Chase Struck, and Landry Steding; brothers Glen Ball, Jr.; Charles Ball; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Patricia Ball and Susanne Sly.
