Jason Edward Smith

Jason Edward Smith, 55, of Eldora, passed away after a lengthy battle with colorectal cancer Nov. 8, 2024. A funeral service will take place Friday, Nov. 15, 2024, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eldora at 3 p.m., with family available an hour before the service. A Celebration of Life will be held following the funeral at Dorothy’s Senior Center in Eldora.

Jason was born on February 12, 1969, in Eldora to Richard and Joanne (Saint) Smith. He graduated from Eldora-New Providence High School in 1988.

After high school, Jason worked for Dayco Products, and also worked for United Suppliers just outside of Eldora for 17 years.

Jason was united in marriage to Kellie Carpenter Sept. 28, 1991. Together, Jason and Kellie had two children, Justyn and Olyvia.

Jason always loved spending time and joking around with all of his friends and family. He loved to go camping, where he could always be found sitting in a lawn chair with a cold can of Busch Light. He enjoyed gardening, and cooking for anyone who would eat his food. He was especially known for his homemade pizza, which was loved by everyone who tried it. On Sundays after church, he could be found in his recliner cheering on the Green Bay Packers, and afterward would be outside grilling and taking care of his cat Matilda.

Jason is survived by his wife Kellie, his children Justyn and Olyvia (and special friend Aaron Noh), parents-in-law Larry and Helen Golden of Goldfield, sister-in-law Amy (Scott) Wiezorek of Clarion, brother-in-law Tim (Amanda) Carpenter of Clarion, sister Stacey Cayler of St. Petersburg, Florida, stepmother Sandra (Bill) Toner of Harlingen, Texas, as well as 8 nieces and nephews.

Jason was preceded in death by his parents Richard Smith and Joanne Smith, uncle Ron Saint, aunt Corrine Christian, and his grandparents Dick and Ethal Smith and Erwyn and Blanche Saint.
