Jannis Mary Ann Feilmeier

Jannis Mary Ann Feilmeier, age 82, formerly of Eldora, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 28, 2020, surrounded by her family at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Jannis Mary Ann (Hoffmann) Feilmeier was born to Leonard and Martha Hoffmann on May 20, 1938, at home in Willey, Iowa, and named after her two grandmothers, Mary Janning and Anna Reil. She was the second of five children. She grew up in Carroll county, around Dedham and Willey, where she attended St. Mary’s Catholic School. At the age of 16, Jannis met Earl Feilmeier at a ballroom dance in Arcadia, Iowa. Two years later, the two of them were united in Holy Matrimony at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Willey, Iowa, on January 21, 1957, by Father Dries, the same priest who baptized Jannis.

She enjoyed life on the family farm in Eldora, Iowa, raising her nine children, where she was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She spent many years working at Dodger Manufacturing and Valley View Nursing home. She enjoyed watching football, watching movies, playing cards, going to the casino, playing word search puzzles, spending time with her family, and laughing. In later years, she resided in Coon Rapids, Mn, with her daughter, Jean, and her family. There she was able to partake in many of the same pleasures in life, especially talking on the phone to family and playing with her dogs Peaches and Paisley.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Feilmeier; by her children, Joleen, Deborah, John and Earl Jr.; by her parents Leonard and Martha (Janning) Hoffmann; by her siblings Joan Segebart and Elmer Hoffmann; and by one grandson.

She is survived in death by her children Jean (Al) Droubie, Janet (Robert) Amuso, Clay (Trish) Feilmeier, Karla Feilmeier, and Kathleen (Wes) Eklund; by her eighteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren; and by her sisters, Elsie Willenborg and Carolyn Winslow.

Following Jannis’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. For the safety of everyone, the family anticipates a Christian burial and services at a later date, due to COVID-19 guidelines and concerns. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Jannis’s name to her family.
