Gail Maxine Lawler
Gail Maxine Lawler, 98 of Steamboat Rock, passed away Sunday Nov. 17, 2024, in Eldora. Rosary service will begin at 9:45 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am Saturday, Nov. 23,, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eldora.
She was born on a farm Oct. 5, 1926, in Hardin County, the daughter of Raymond H. and Linda (Granner) Kadolph. She attended Grant #8 County School, graduated from Eldora High School in 1944, attended Iowa State Teachers College (now University of Northern Iowa) two years. She taught 4th grade at Toledo in 1946-1947.
Gail was united in marriage June 17, 1947 to Jerold Delbert Lawler at St. Mary Catholic Church in Eldora. The couple welcomed nine sons into their family. They lived on several farms in Hardin County until moving to a farm north of Eldora in 1964.
Gail was a homemaker, enjoyed working with flowers, gardening, crocheting, and embroidering. She made crib quilts for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gail was a member of the Neighborhood Kounty Klub, Farm Bureau, and was Women's Chairman. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and participated in many activities. Gail and her husband loved to travel and went to all 50 states and 14 foreign countries.
She is survived by seven sons: James (Carolyn) of Antelope CA, Joseph (Ethel) of Easley, SC; Daniel (Roberta) of Bettendorf,; Kenneth (Angela) of Altoona; Matthew (Jean) of Mt. Pleasant; Mark of Mt. Morris, Illinois; and Myron (Gloria) of Coulter; 14 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents, brother Lawrence Kadolph, sisters Edna Flanders, Sister Lucia Kadolph, Ruth Gogerty, Audrey Kadolph, daughters-in-laws Pamela and Clara, son Patrick Lawler, infant son Andrew, and her loving husband Jerold.
Memorials may be made to the St. Mary Catholic Church in Eldora.
